A concert “Towards the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition” took place on March 21 at the Novgorod Regional Philharmonic named after A. ArenskyThe start to the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition was given by Ivan Bessonov, the First Prize winner of the Rachmaninoff International Competition of Pianists, Composers and Conductors which was held with great success in 2022 in Moscow on the eve of the anniversary of the great musician.
The Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yuri Tkachenko performed world-famous works by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
“The concert turned out to be very fast paced. I like such performances because it is a vibrant energy that charges you to be creative. Denis Matsuev knows how to create projects with a very warm and homely atmosphere, when you play and you get the feeling that only familiar people and friends who support you are sitting in the hall. There is no doubt that the Rachmaninoff youth competition will be held at a very high level. I wish all the contestants good luck and inspiration!” – Ivan Bessonov said after the concert.
“The birthplace of Sergei Rachmaninoff, Veliky Novgorod, is a place where there is energy that nourishes the whole world and us, in particular, through art. Opening today’s concert, playing the masterpieces of Sergei Vasilievich, I had a feeling of being in the midst of a big event. This big event is the International Youth Competition, which takes place in the anniversary year of Sergei Rachmaninoff. It’s great that Andrey Nikitin, the governor of the Novgorod region, showed a wonderful initiative, Denis Matsuev picked it up and supported, and we are implementing it, inspired by the energy of this region!” – Honored Artist of Russia Yuri Tkachenko.
Please be reminded that the auditions of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition will begin already tomorrow, on March 22 at 12.00. Follow the online broadcasts on the official website of the Contest, as well as in its official VKontakte community.
