The Fazil Iskander Theatre from Abkhazia dedicated its tour in the Urals to the 80th anniversary of the VictoryTo a storm of applause, the group performed in Perm, Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk.

The events in Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk were held with the assistance of the “Rosatom Territory of Culture” within the framework of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the nuclear industry.

From 2 to 13 May, the State Russian Drama Theatre named after F.A. Iskander, presented shows based on Russian and Abkhaz classics at the venues of the Perm Academic ”Theatre-Theatre”, the Yekaterinburg Theatre for Young Spectators and the Chelyabinsk N. Orlov Academic Drama Theatre. Audiences in the three largest Ural cities warmly welcomed the productions of Sofichka and Shepherd Makhaz based on the works of Fazil Iskander and Fathers and Sons by Ivan Turgenev.

General Director of the State Russian Drama Theatre named after F.A. Iskander Irakli Khintba noted: “In the history of our theater, this tour happened to be the most intense and the most responsible one, and I am glad to say that we have passed this “test of strength”. In the truly theatrical cities of Perm, Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk, our shows were presented at a dignified artistic and technical level to full houses, and had real success with the audience . When you realize that our theatre company from Abkhazia is loved and awaited in Russia, that our work is in such demand, you become keenly aware of the unifying power of theatrical art and the strategic importance of the “Big Tour” program. We would like to thank ROSCONCERT and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for the opportunity to serve mutual understanding and friendship between our peoples.”

In addition, at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture of the Sverdlovsk Region, the actors of the Fazil Iskander Theater took part in cultural events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in Yekaterinburg on 9 May. Dzhambul Zhordania, Osman Abukhba, Said Lazba and Leon Gvindzhia performed concert pieces, including the song Aiaaira Du Amsh (Great Victory Day) in the Abkhaz language, written by Dzhambul Zhordania to the lyrics of the People’s poet of Abkhazia Bagrat Shinkuba. The company also congratulated the residents of the Urals on the holiday on behalf of the people of Abkhazia.

The “Big Tour” program is implemented by the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Culture ROSCONCERT in accordance with the All-Russian Tour and Concert Plan of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
