The Berezka ensemble will perform in the capital of South Ossetia on Russia DayThe concert will take place at the South Ossetian State Drama Theater named after K.L. Khetagurov.
On 12 June, the State Academic Choreographic Ensemble Beryozka of the Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation named after N. S. Nadezhdina will perform in Tskhinval. The program will feature choreographic pieces staged by People’s Artist of the USSR Nadezhda Nadezhdina and People’s Artist of the USSR Mira Koltsova, who was the Artistic Director and Chief Choreographer of the ensemble from 1979 to 2022: the Russian girls’ round dance Beryozka, the dance scene Carousel, the choreographic composition Song of Labor, the round dance Sudarushka, the Russian dance Troika and other famous compositions from the ensemble’s repertoire. The legendary dance Kalinka will be performed in the finale.
The Berezka ensemble, founded by the great Russian choreographer Nadezhda Nadezhdina in 1948, is the only winner of the gold medal “For Contribution to Strengthening Friendship between Nations”, awarded by the World Peace Council in 1959. The Chief choreographer of the ensemble is Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Irina Tsukanova; the director of the company is Honored Worker of Culture of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Tatyana Selgmyae.
According to the Minister of Culture of the Republic of South Ossetia, Rada Dzagoeva, “each time these events create an atmosphere of celebration and unity of our two peoples. According to the established tradition, we celebrate Russia Day, 12 June, with a creative team from Russia. And each time this is a gift for all residents of our Republic, who are have a keen interest in Russian and sincerely admire it. This year we will host “Beryozka” – one of the best and most famous Russian creative groups, and the ensemble’s performance will undoubtedly become another bright cultural event and another memorable page in the history of relations between our two cultures. The tradition of holding large-scale holidays for our peoples is a significant component of cooperation and mutual dialogue between the Ministries of Culture of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation, and we highly appreciate the level of support from our colleagues.”
The Cultural exchange days between Russia and South Ossetia are being held for the fifth year in a row and serve as one of the effective tools for developing and strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. Thus, the public of South Ossetia has already got acquainted with the work of leading Russian performing companies, including the State Song and Dance Ensemble of the Republic of South Ossetia Simd named after B.A. Galaev, Georgy Garanyan’s Krasnodar Big Band (Creative Association Premiere), the State Academic Honored Dance Ensemble of Dagestan Lezginka, the Oleg Lundstrem State Chamber Jazz Orchestra, the Gzhel Moscow State Academic Dance Theater.
