The Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra performed in BakuRussian musicians gave a special concert on the stage of the M. Magomayev State Philharmonic.
The concert on 16 June was given as a token of gratitude to diplomats, the authorities of Azerbaijan, and employees of the Russian embassies in Baku and Tehran for their assistance in evacuating the musicians from the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova:“Once again, we heartily thank the authorities of Azerbaijan and Iran, as well as our diplomats, for the assistance provided to Russian artists in such a difficult situation!”
The Chief conductor of the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, Arsenty Tkachenko, shared his emotions before the performance: “We are all very happy now that we are safe, sound, and well looked after in the Republic of Azerbaijan. And we can’t wait to reach the hotel, get some sleep and then give you a concert.”
Before the event, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Republic of Azerbaijan Mikhail Evdokimov and Chairman of the Culture Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan Polad Bülbüloğlu addressed the guests with welcoming words.

P. Tchaikovsky. Serenade for string orchestra. First, second and fourth movements.
S.. Rachmaninov. Vocalise
R. Glière. Hymn to the Great City from the ballet The Bronze Horseman
P. Tchaikovsky. Dance of the Buffoons from the music to the play The Snow Maiden by A. Ostrovsky.
As an encore, the musicians played Air from Orchestral Suite No. 3 by J.-S. Bach and Trepak from the ballet The Nutcracker by P. Tchaikovsky.
