Congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the Victory in jazz style in SukhumThe concert took place as part of cultural events between Russia and Abkhazia.

On 24 April, the R. Gumba Abkhaz State Philharmonic hosted guests – the  Melodiya Ensemble-Georgy Garanyan Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Ovagem Sultanyan. Together with Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Marina Devyatova and soloist Anastasia Ivanova, the orchestra presented a program of famous songs from past years, reinterpreted in a jazz key.

The Minister of Culture of Abkhazia Daur Kove, who attended the concert, noted that this event launched the 2025 cultural exchange program between Abkhazia and Russia in the republic. He also mentioned that the Abkhazian duet Piano Duohad previously successfully represented their country in Samara.

Mikhail Shurgalin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Abkhazia, stated that cultural ties between the two countries are becoming stronger and extended gratitude to the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova for her support and active participation in this process.

At the concert dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory two unique programs were presented: a jazz program and the program Music of Victory, which included iconic compositions of the 40-50s in brilliant arrangements by Georgy Garanyan.

The concert program also featured songs beloved by many generations:  Shalandy (Boats Full of Mullets) by Nikita Bogoslovsky from the film Two Soldiers (arrangement by Georgy Garanyan), Four Friends, Ballad by Georgy Garanyan, etc. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Marina Devyatova performed the legendary song Cossacks in Berlin, written by brothers Dmitry and Daniil Pokrass on 9 May 1945, Meeting of Friends (E. Martynov, R. Rozhdestvensky),  and Lonely Accordion (B. Mokrousov, M. Isakovsky). Soloist Anastasia Ivanova performed the composition Sing-Sing-Singby Louis Prima
