Days of Abkhazian Culture will be held in three Russian cities.Abkhazian Culture Days in Russia will open in Moscow on 2 April
The project events will take place in three Russian cities – Moscow, Vladimir, and Nizhny Novgorod – and will run until 6 April.
This year, spectators in Russia will witness performances by one of Abkhazia’s most vibrant and distinctive ensembles – the State Honored Folk Song and Dance Ensemble of the Republic of Abkhazia named after Vasily Tsargush (artistic director – People’s Artist of the Republic of Abkhazia and People’s Artist of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Valery Tania).
The ensemble’s performances will take place at iconic venues: on 2 April on the stage of the Russian Song Moscow State Academic Theatre, on 4 April at the Vladimir Regional Philharmonic, and on 6 April at the Kremlin Concert Hall of the Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Philharmonic named after Mstislav Rostropovich.
A special program for the Days of Culture will reflect the diversity and beauty of Abkhaz folk songs and dances. Russian audiences will be invited to watch and listen to to the suite Abkhaz Wedding, the heroic folk song Ozbak, the ancient marching song Samatkhua, the humorous song Rafida, and My Abkhazia – the legendary song by Soviet composer, Honored Artist of the Abkhaz ASSR Aslan Daurov, with lyrics by the Soviet Abkhaz writer and poet, and laureate of the D.Gulia State Prize of the Abkhaz ASSR Ivan Tarba.
The ensemble was founded in 1931 and over the years of its activity has many times become a laureate of international festivals. It has also toured many countries around the world, including Germany, Greece, Turkey, Syria, France, Mexico, Argentina and others.
The Days of Abkhazian Culture in Russia is a traditional annual collaboration between the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Abkhazia. As part of the interdepartamental cooperation program signed in 2025, tours of performing companies are organized in both countries, and Russian and Abkhaz performers participate in international music festivals and competitions in Abkhazia and Russia. Return performances by Russian artists will take place in mid-April in Sukhum, the capital of the Republic of Abkhazia.
Days of Russian Culture abroad are held annually by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and aim to systematically expand Russia’s cultural presence, promote national spiritual values and traditions in foreign countries, and support compatriots. In 2025, Russian events were held in Abkhazia, Belarus, Bulgaria, France, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritius, North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, the UAE, Uzbekistan, and South Ossetia.
On behalf of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Culture ROSCONCERT acts as the organiser of the Days of Russian Culture.
