Moscow dance company will perform at the Festival in BrazilFrom 29 May to 3 June, cultural programs will be held in the Federative Republic of Brazil. The events are organized as part of international cooperation.

The Folk Dance Ensemble Kabluchok named after Kira Cherdantseva will present its art. On 30 and 31 May, the company will take part in the IV International Folklore Festival Autumn in Dance, within the program of which it will give an open air performance on the St. Vladimir Square in the city of Campina das Missões (Rio Grande do Sul).

This year, the festival, which aims to preserve and promote folk traditions through dance, will focus on culture and interaction between peoples. The Festival  is an initiative of the Municipal Government of Campina das Missóis and is organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism in partnership with the Campina das Missões Tourism and Culture Association – ATURC. According to the Culture Director and creator of the project, Adeliza Strieder, “the festival is a unique opportunity to see the beauty of world cultures in our city, to appreciate our own roots and cultural cooperation between different peoples.”

Participants of the Autumn in Dance festival will include folklore companies from Rio Grande do Sul and other Brazilian states, as well as from countries such as Argentina, Paraguay, Chile and Russia. Through music, choreography and traditional costumes, each group intends to express the specific nature of its people on stage.

As part of the creative exchange with the dance company Troika Group (Campina das Missóis), on 29 May and 1 June, the participants of the Kabluchok ensemble will hold master classes at the Campina das Missões House of Culture. On 2 June, the dancers of the ensemble will perform at the Antonio Carlos Borges City Cultural Center (Santa Rosa), and on 3 June, they will take part in a joint concert at the Campina das Missões House of Culture.

In addition, the tour program will include workshops, collaborations with various companies, and open spaces for local communities and visitors.

The Folk Dance Ensemble Kabluchok was founded by Kira Cherdantseva in 1962 at the oldest and world-famous higher educational institution in Russia – the Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. The Timiryazev Academy has always been known for its love for dance, and in 1965 the Faculty of Social Professions successfully operated there, where the Choreography Department was in particular demand. Apart from folk dance, students had classes in classical and pop dance, historical folk dance, history of arts, etc. In 1984, the Kabluchok  Ensemble received the title of “People’s Amateur Company”. The company presented Its first program the VI World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow in 1957 and received an honorary diploma – that time the company had not accepted the current name Kabluchok and performed as a dance group representing the Academy. Kabluchok was a participant in the cultural program of the XXII Olympic Games in Moscow where it presented the program Russian Souvenir. The Ensemble’s collection of awards counts over 500 honorary prizes, laureate titles and Grand Prix winners titles.

The head of the company is Dmitry Krey, a graduate of the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts, a teacher at the Moscow Provincial Arts College, a laureate and Grand Prix winner of international and all-Russian dance festivals and choreographic competitions.

The performances of the Kabluchok Ensemble will take place with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The organizers are the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Culture ROSCONCERT, ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO and the V.D. Polenov State Russian House of Folk Art.
