For the first time, the Samarkand Russian Drama Theater participated in the All-Russian Touring and Concert Plan.The performances took place on 14 October at the A. Pushkin Krasnoyarsk Drama Theater.

The musical The Capricious Princess was the first show presented to Krasnoyarsk audiences. This is an oriental tale of love that overcomes social prejudice. The eternal motif of the trials of love comes to life in the character of Princess Leyla, whose aspirations confront the will of the powerful Shah’s wife, while the clash between the protagonist Mamat and the demonic Akhriman becomes an allegory of the struggle between light and darkness.
The same evening, the theater company from Samarkand turned to contemporary grotesque and presented the comedy Woman-Robot. The play’s main character is tractor driver Kuchkorvoy. He is an excessive drinker. The situation escalates to the point where his wife takes the children and leaves for her father. Meanwhile, arrives her nephew Olimtoy, a scientist, who has created a robot resembling a real woman. Kuchkorvoy cannot understand the robot’s nature and wants to marry this piece of hardware.
“The Krasnoyarsk Pushkin Drama Theater was delighted to welcome the company of the Samarkand Regional Russian Drama Theater on its stage as part of the federal program Big Tour. This gave the Krasnoyarsk audience the opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan and appreciate the actors’ skills. Furthermore, it is worth emphasizing that this event contributed to strengthening international ties in the arts and enriched the cultural space of the Krasnoyarsk Territory,” said Petr Anikin, director of the Krasnoyarsk A. Pushkin Drama Theater.
The Samarkand Regional Russian Drama Theater is one of the oldest theaters in Uzbekistan. Its foundation is believed to date back to the late 19th century. To this day, it remains an important part of the cultural life of the region and the country as a whole.
