The Gogol Theatre concluded its first “Big Tour (Bolshiye Gastroli).”The actors from the Russian capital presented productions in the style of fantastic realism in Tver

From 8 to 11 June, the Gogol Moscow Drama Theater presented its signature productions of classic works at the Tver Academic Drama Theater: the 2025-2026 season premiere of A Hero of Our Time? based on the novel by Mikhail Lermontov, a crime re-enactment Crime and Punishment after the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky, William Shakespeare’s comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the infernal comedy The Gamblers. Illusion based on the play by Nikolai Gogol.

Anton Yakovlev, Artistic Director of the Gogol Theatre, emphasized:

“This is the first time the Gogol Moscow Drama Theatre has participated in the ‘Big Tours’ program. The tour to Tver is the first large-scale tour for the reenergized company. We brought flagship productions from our repertoire, which vividly demonstrate the principles of fantastic realism that our theatre espouses. The tour was a success, and we were amazed by the audience’s attentiveness and openness to both the serious drama and the street-smart, carnival comedy. The audience included not only residents of Tver but also guests from other cities. This allowed us to significantly expand our audience base. We thank the Ministry of Culture of the Tver Region and the management of the Tver Academic Drama Theatre for the excellent organization of the tour and the warm welcome.”

The tour was organized by the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Culture ROSCONCERT in accordance with the All-Russian Tour and Concert Plan of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
