Days of Culture of South Ossetia opened in MoscowThe opening ceremony took place on the stage of the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall
President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev and Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova addressed the guests with welcoming remarks.
Alan Gagloev emphasized that the event is part of a larger strategy that includes bilateral cultural agreements and a large-scale cooperation program, ranging from music and dance to theater, cinema, museum projects, and library activities.
Olga Lyubimova noted that holding Days of Culture of South Ossetia in Russia demonstrates the strength of cultural ties between the two countries, their mutual interest in each other’s spiritual heritage, and their sincere desire to further develop humanitarian cooperation:
“Russia and South Ossetia are inextricably linked by a shared history, long-standing traditions of friendship, and a profound respect for the cultural identity of our peoples. Today’s event reaffirms that culture remains a vital creative force capable of building trust, preserving historical memory, and opening new opportunities for communication between people.”
As part of the Days of Culture, Moscow audiences will also be invited to see performances by the Kosta Khetagurov South Ossetian State Drama Theatre, which celebrates its 95th anniversary this year.
Olga Lyubimova met with Alan Gagloev, President of the Republic of South Ossetia. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation Znaur Gassiev, and Minister of Culture of the Republic of South Ossetia Grigory Mamiev were also present at the meeting. During the meeting, a wide range of issues concerning bilateral cultural cooperation were discussed, with particular emphasis on developing collaboration in education in creative areas and cinema. Olga Lyubimova invited her colleagues from South Ossetia to participate in the Intermuseum International Festival, the 5th International Children’s Cultural Forum, and the 12th St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures.
The reciprocal Days of Russian Culture in South Ossetia will be held this year in Tskhinvali and will coincide with Russia Day celebrations.
