The final concert of the year in the Republic of MauritiusRussian musicians performed their final concert on 20 November

The concert in November was the last in a Russian series of musical events in the Republic of Mauritius dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Singer, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Olesya Evstigneeva performed on the stage of the Caudan Arts Centre in Port Louis, along with the Novy Den (The New Day) Quartet of Soloists from the Rossiya State Academic Russian Folk Ensemble named after Lyudmila Zykina. The ensemble’s participants included laureates of international competition Timur Galinurov (accordion), Valentin Solgalov (balalaika), Svyatoslav Kaiser (domra), and Igor Koksharov (double bass balalaika). Artistic Director – Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Dmitry Dmitrienko.

Irada Zeynalova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Mauritius, was the guest of honor at the concert. She addressed the guests and participants of the concert with a welcoming speech and noted: “I am confident that we will enjoy every note of the music we will hear today, because we are hosting the most professional performers of folk songs and folk instrumental music. I am very grateful to the Russians and Mauritians, diplomats, politicians, and scientists who have gathered here today, because culture knows no borders and unites peoples.”

The concert program in the Republic of Mauritius allowed the audience to become better acquainted with Russian music. The evening featured Russian folk songs such as Believed, Believed, Believe; Hegh, Mother, I Am Bored; Well Then?; Marusenka Harvested the Wheat; variations on the Russian folk song The Moon Shines by Vasily Andreyev, By The Long Road by Boris Fomin, and other works by Russian and Soviet composers.

The previous concerts took place on 9 and 11 May, both concerts were given in Port Louis. On the first evening, a Sextet of soloists from the Rossiya State Academic Russian Folk Ensemble named after Lyudmila Zykina performed at the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Mauritius. On 11 May, a concert featuring classical music and wartime songs took place at the Caudan Arts Centre. The stage was taken by laureates of the International Tchaikovsky Competition: Alexander Ghindin (piano), Gaik Kazazyan (violin), Alexander Ramm (cello), and Zinaida Tsarenko (mezzo-soprano). On 10 October, a concert Brilliance of Russian Classics was held, featuring the following laureates of the International Tchaikovsky Competition. Tchaikovsky: Polina Shabunina (soprano), Maxim Lisiin (baritone), Ivan Sendetsky (cello) and Sergei Davydchenko (piano).
