On Russia Day, the Berezka Ensemble for the first time performed in the capital of South OssetiaКонцерт состоялся в рамках Дней культуры России в Южной Осетии.

On 12 June, the State Academic Choreographic Ensemble Beryozka named after N.S. Nadezhdina of the Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation gave a concert on the stage of the K.L. Khetagurov South Ossetian State Drama Theater in Tskhinval.

The Minister of Culture of the Republic of South Ossetia Radmila Dzagoeva and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov opened the festive concert.

Marat Kulakhmetov thanked the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Culture ROSCONCERT for the opportunity to watch the performance of the famous Russian dance company, the artistic skills and mesmerizing movement style of which were applauded by audiences of all continents, and congratulated everyone on the holiday.

“12 June is a celebratory date not only for representatives of hundreds of peoples and nationalities, inhabiting the territory of the Russian Federation, but also for millions of people outside Russia, for whom the Russian language, Russian culture and history are dear and close in spirit,” Radmila Dzagoeva noted in her welcoming speech. “In recent years, South Ossetia has been actively developing cultural cooperation with the Russian Federation. We have implemented dozens of interesting projects together with colleagues from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. ROSCONCERT offers us great assistance in these activities. And today I would like to thank my colleagues for their great willingness to cooperate. Wherever we go, wherever our performing companies tour, they are always received with great warmth and respect. The doors of the best concert and theatre venues of Russia open to our performers. With a big heart and with all the Ossetian hospitality, we welcome the famous Russian ensemble Beryozka, which is one of the symbols of Russia.”

This performance of Beryozka was the first ever solo concert of the company in the history of the Republic of South Ossetia. The program of the evening featured choreographic pieces from the golden fund of the ensemble’s repertoire staged by People’s Artist of the USSR Nadezhda Nadezhdina and People’s Artist of the USSR Mira Koltsova: the Russian girls’ round dance Beryozka, the dance scene Carousel, the choreographic composition Song of Labor, the round dance Sudarushka, the Russian dance Troika, the legendary dance Kalinka, etc. The Chief choreographer of the ensemble is Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Irina Tsukanova; the director of the company is Honored Worker of Culture of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Tatyana Selgmyae.

The cultural exchange events between Russia and South Ossetia are being held for the fifth year in a row and proved to be one of the efficient tools for developing and strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

The event was held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of South Ossetia. The organizer of the concert is the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Culture ROSCONCERT.
